Virtual Meeting Burnout

With Zoom Meetings... go slow.
How to avoid burnout from so many zoom calls

Are you experiencing a little bit of virtual meeting burnout like I am?

How are you dealing with it?

Are you standing out amongst the many video faces?

I’ve heard from a lot of my clients, friends, and colleagues that at this six month+ mark of COVID-ing they continue to manage leadership roles, entrepreneurship, virtual schooling management, and Zoom meeting after Zoom meeting at a heightened pace. There’s talk of messy hair buns and yoga pants; or showing up to meetings wearing boxer shorts below the camera’s view. (Be careful with that! <wink>) I was sick of the term “the new normal” almost 6 months ago, but here we are. It will probably continue longer than we want, but this too shall pass. And, things will probably never go back to exactly how they were, but one thing will be true no matter what: Showing up matters! Our presence, online or offline, is still critical to our success, leadership and outcomes.

Having grown up in the Corp I’m attuned to those in uniform. I love the people I know in the service and I am stoked on the lessons I learn from my military friends and clients. You’ve probably seen this video “Make Your Bed” by US Navy Admiral William H McRaven. “If you want to change the world, start each day with a task completed.” Maybe   these days it’s to brush your hair and put pants on. That’s a solid start for sure! But, I think it’s more than that: Believe you can make a difference. Show up in service and know that your presence—your story—can change the world.

Make this your opportunity. It’s a game of endurance, a time for innovation, and a time to assess what matters most. I hope these quick blips serve you in some way. We all need a little motivation here and there. If you’re looking for more, this is the community for you.
